Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick Reviews

Running Vista Home 32 Bit. The stick installed fine. Note - I'm in Toronto and the High Gain Antenna didn't work well. If you're looking for crystal clear HD OTA signals it won't be easy. You'll most likely need to use Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick on a Notebook near a window high up in a building or have an above home antenna. The Pinnacle Software is garbage. It locked up half the time. What I recommend is: Once the hardware is installed and you can view TV on it, never use the Pinnacle Software again. I tried the demo of SageTV (www.sageTV.com) and loved it so much I bought it. It's like having a digital box. It records as you watch and deletes the video after the episode is finished airing. You can rewind, pause and record. Browse Youtube. Everything. Works great with the Pinnacle Ultimate Stick and, after buying SageTV, am happy with the Ultimate Stick card.

Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick device sounded like a great deal. Pinnacle seemed like a company I could trust, theyve been around since the dark ages. Bought this product and it worked fine, for like 20 minutes then it shuts off, felt of the stick and Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick was burning hot. It kept doing this for about a week and then it stopped working completely. Returned it, waste of time. Go buy a Hauppauge card, they seem like a better choice.

I got this product as a prize from Computer America, During the 12 Days of Xmas giveaway. At 1st I thought I was getting a great prize. However, after trying the product. I don't like the low amount of memory used to store videos. It would be nice if there was a way to connect a 2nd bigger USB flash drive to this product so it can record more shows before filled up. Otherwise it's a OK for the basic user.

I would NOT recommend this item to anyone. I installed this USB device on a Windows XP SP3 computer that exceeded all of the requirements on the Pinnacle Systems box. This device is a memory hog and a processor power hog. If I wanted to decidate a computer to TV video capture it might work marginally. After a week, the unit stopped working. I traded lots of email with Pinnacle Systems support but got nowhere. Then the thing lost many of the files on the USB device. When I went to uninstall the support software it failed because my computer was not running SP2. I was running SP3. In my opinion, this is just bad software design.

Worse Pinnacle device I have ever owned...The unit is very hot when using it and Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick is NOT Vista compatible. If you have Vista 32bit, you must use Beta software, 64bit users are just out of luck.
