For fifty bucks I would consider Mach Speed Onyx 4GB MP3/MP4 Player w/ FM Tuner/ Vo an excellent value for a 4GB MP3 player. So far I've only tried the MP3 player and have all the files in the root directory but I have been very pleased with the performance. The only quirk I've found is that when I first power on the player it seems to be stuck on always starting out with the same song even though I have it set to play random files. For the price I think Mach Speed Onyx 4GB MP3/MP4 Player w/ FM Tuner/ Vo a great deal and it definitely meets my expectations.

Does the unit work as well as others costing 2 to 3 times more money? Definite no! But if your on a budget and want a player that has a whole 4 GB memory,and want to only spend $50. dollars, it has lots of bang for the buck. Pros-Lots of storage for my MP3 music and Jpeg pictures. Also great sounding audio,and nice working FM tuner.Cons-Very hard to navigate it's menues. Not easy, but possible to transfer movies. It uses some off the wall codec called .SMV and to play standard WMA formats you must use a provided software converter program to conveert standard used formats to the required .SMV format. It is time consuming and requires tech knowledge. So if you have time and strong tech and software skills go for it. But if you have lots of money and want more of a plug and play, spend the big bucks and buy a IPOD or ZUME. Since I have little money and pretty good software and hardware skills Mach Speed Onyx 4GB MP3/MP4 Player w/ FM Tuner/ Vo was good for me. Mach Speed Onyx 4GB MP3/MP4 Player w/ FM Tuner/ Vo was like having a good cross word puzzle to figure out.

Bought this for my wife for her birthday. Should have just bought her a bag of Jerky cause she would have like it more. The interface on this pos is nearly impossible to use. It holds 4gb but barely functions when it has over 3.5 used. Don't waste your money! Buy something else like more ram or something.

You get what you paid for. For the exact same screen size the Sansa e280 out performs this pos. Besides the two features to weight your decision is, this unit has a built in piezo speaker, while the the Sansa has a Micro SD slot. I exchanged the gift within hours of receiving it, I'd rather have the ability to expand its capacity, rather than a crappy speaker. Though it was ok for voice/lecture record/playback. Just don't be holding it in your hands while its recording.

We got one of these 3 months ago. While it is a little difficult to learn to manuever the menu, it just takes a little time to learn. Since this is my first MP3 player, I can't compare it to others. But I know what I like and I really like this little player/recorder. The quality is fantastic for an inexpensive little MP3 player. One feature most aren't saying anything about and maybe they don't know about it but I take this MP3 recorder with me to rehearsals and performances when I sing or go to a concert. The microphone on this little baby is utterly unbelieveable for such an inexpensive unit. It's great if you want to record your rehearsals in order to be able to critique yourself. Is it as good as a $300 unit? I don't know because I've never had one but my nephew had one he paid $200 for and even he had to admit mine was just as good. For a first time buyer of an MP3 or a teen - you can't go wrong.
