Brilliant Compact Design!
Linksys Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera
The Linksys Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera sends live video through the Internet to a web browser anywhere in the world! This compact, self-contained unit lets you keep track of your home, your kids, your workplace -- whatever's important to you. Unlike standard "web cams" that require an attached PC, the Internet Video Camera contains its own web server, so it can connect directly to a network, either over Wireless-G (802.11g) networking, or over 10/100 Ethernet cable. The advanced MPEG-4 video compression produces a high-quality, high-framerate, up to 320x240 video stream.
Send Live Video to a Web Browser Anywhere inthe World!
The Compact Internet Video Camera's unique form-factor and wireless connectivity allows you to mount it on a wall nearly anywhere, or slip it into its included stand for desktop use. Once it's connected to your home network, you can "see what it sees" from any Windows-based PC in the house, while the video stream is secured from the outside world, hidden behind your Router. If you want the video to be visible from outside your home network, you can open an appropriate port on the Router, and then create password protected accounts to manage access to the camera, or leave it wide open for the world to see. The SoloLink domain service (trial sign-up included) lets you access your camera using an easy-to-remember "name", even if your home Internet connection uses a dynamic IP address.
Motion Detection and E-mailnotification
You can also turn on Security Mode, which tells the camera to send a message with a short video attached to up to three email addresses whenever it detects motion in its field of view. You can then log onto the live video stream if the situation warrants. The included Viewer & Recorder utility lets you record the audio/video stream to your local hard drive, "live" or on a predetermined schedule. Let the Linksys Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera help you keep tabs on your world.

Linksys Compact Wireless-G Reviews

Like the other reviewers stated, the image quality is low for a contemporary camera. I found setting up the camera to be easy, but getting help from the Linsys site is not easy. The thing I found most disturbing is that camera I purchased has a firmware version that is more current than what is posted on the Linksys site. That seems good but does it mean that there is even more recent firmware that isn't posted? The camera works and for the price I'm not going to complain but I wouldn't buy another one.

Linksys Compact Wireless-G camera is a complete piece of junk. I have tried and tried to get it working better on our network here. It is slowwww across even a wired network, let alone a wireless connection. If you are not using the standard 192.168.1.* IP schema, then don't expect Linksys Compact Wireless-G to even connect to your router wirelessly, it won't.

I agree that the picture quality is very poor. Now I understand why the motion sensor and snapshot do not work !They are not enabled. You do need daylight or very good illumination to get a decent picture .

Connectivity: Wireless works good even though there is no antenna on the cam. The frame rate is about 10% of that when it is connected via cable. Quality: Forget about using it indoors unless its a very bright room. This camera is not good for low light levels. Pointing it outside it works fine (of course daytime only).. Auto focus works great.Setup: Email was a bear to setup. But once I got it going I wish I didnt. Since I point it outside because its useless inside the clouds trigger the motion all the time. OK settings for motion detection. You can draw 1 or 2 boxs on the screen for detection areas then set sensitivity. The camera will send you an email and attach a video (ASF format) if you want. Only allowed to select between 2-5 seconds. Should allow you more time since the lowest setting for time between movements and next email is 2 minutes.Software is Poor. Needs audio!Look for Alternative
