Linksys 54Mbps Bridge
Linksys 54Mbps Bridge Description
Linksys 54Mbps Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge V2.0
The versatile Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge can make any wired Ethernet-equipped device a part of your wireless network. At home, use the Bridge to connect game consoles, set-top boxes, or computers to your Wireless-G network and its shared high-speed Internet connection. In the office, convert your Ethernet-wired printer, scanner, camera, notebook or desktop into a wireless networked device.
It's completely driver-free, so it works on any platform and under any operating system! Since there's no drivers to load, setup is a snap -- configure the network settings through your PC's web browser, then plug it into your device and go. And physical installation is simplified by support for Power Over Ethernet. With an optional POE Adapter, you can mount the Bridge wherever you want -- power and data are both supplied through the Category 5 Ethernet cable.
You can also use the Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge as a kind of "cable-less cable" to connect remote areas together. Maybe Shipping is all the way across the warehouse from Receiving. Or maybe you want to set up a home office in your detached garage. With a Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge in the garage, and another one (or a Wireless-G Access Point) in the house, you're connected -- no digging trenches, and no overhead wires.
Let the Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge from Linksys open up exciting new possibilities for your wireless network

Linksys 54Mbps Bridge Reviews

I bought Linksys 54Mbps Bridge a couple months ago and just set it up recently. Overall it works great, has a good signal, and is made by Linksys, which is a good, trusting brand. At first it took a while to set it up because it doesn't say the ip address anywhere in the manual or on the unit in order to get to the setup screen, but I ended up calling Linksys tech support and they helped me figure it out. Overall I would say the value is alright, features are good within the setup screen, quality is good, and performance is fast, so all in all it's a pretty good buy.

I bought Linksys 54Mbps Bridge bridge as a secondary solution to wireless internet on my XBox 360. Though slightly expensive it is still $12 cheaper than the adapter for the console. Getting a great signal even through the interference in my basement. One significant fault are the instructions....which it lacks. there is only a small booklet to indicate the easy steps. what it doesnt tell you is how to configure the bridge through ip config. When i called for tech support the advice was below average the first time, as a result of lack of knowledge on the techs part. However, once i got the ip config screen Linksys 54Mbps Bridge was easy from there. Great product, okay service (better than d-link), a little over priced. overall good

Out of the box and up and running in minutes. Connected to a Linksys wireless-N / 4 port 1G router with WPA-PSK encryption. Agree with the review by xerxes and hook up directly to PC first to configure via default IP. Good bye to the cat5 ''trip-wire'' my son ran from room to room. Saved me a ton of time routing cables to remote rooms. :-)

I am a ''hands on'' IT manager and I have nothing good to say about this device. The documentation stinks and misleading. I cannot understand how someone with lesser skills could possibly get past the hurdles that I did. I was not able to get it to work with WPA, but did with WEP and OPEN security. Thinking that there was a newer version firmware, I was amazed to find that the last update was 6/23/06. I blame myself for not researching this one more. I surely missed all the bad reviews and complaints on this device prior to the purchase. I simply bought it to help a friend connect an XBOX to the internet in a back corner of his house. Linksys you aught to be ashamed for not fixing this device. Ashamed!

Issues with this device are due to lack of instructions! If it only told you to set your PC IP to be on the same IP range with the bridge, then set gateway to use IP of the bridge. The default IP of the Bridge is on the instructions. After that configuring it would be a snap. Not for the inexperienced.
