Linksys 54Mbps AP
Linksys 54Mbps AP Description
High-Speed Wireless Access for Exterior Environments!
The Linksys Wireless-G Exterior Access Point lets you connect Wireless-G (802.11g) or Wireless-B (802.11b) devices to your wired network so you can add PCs to the network with no cabling hassle. This weather-proof Access Point creates a "wireless bubble" in exterior spaces, like patios, pool areas, and outdoor cafs. Power over Ethernet support makes it easy to install, and you can create multiple SSIDs that connect to individual VLANs to keep your traffic separated.
It's also perfect for use as a bridge, a kind of "cable-less cable" to connect remote areas together. Maybe your warehouse is in a separate building from your offices. Or maybe you need to connect the separate buildings of a college campus. With one Wireless-G Exterior Access Point on each building, you're connected at 54Mbps with no cable to run. The exterior-rated case protects the access point, and contains an internal antenna.
To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G Exterior Access Point supports both Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and the industrial-strength wireless security of Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), encoding all your wireless transmissions with powerful encryption. The MAC Address filter lets you decide exactly who has access to your wireless network, and advanced logging and emailed intrusion alerts keep you appraised. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
The Linksys Wireless-G Exterior Access Point is the best way to add wireless access to the outdoor areas of your home or business.

Linksys 54Mbps AP Reviews

You have to make a cable to make the extra antenna that is not supported by Cisco. Cisco dose not support an antenna and they use not industry stander connections. The power over Ethernet is not powered by the router, which is sold in-conjunction with unit! Cisco states that unit must be connected within 100 feet of router. A power requirement is not listed and it states that you can use unit for collages but up to 65 uses. You find Linksys 54Mbps AP out only when you read the user CD. You can control up to 20 Mac's.

I only wanted an outside AP to provide 300meter link to barn. Tried two of these thinking first one was dud but both failed with absolutly no power 7% as seen by a linksys bridge. I suggest you choose Engenius tiger product code E155-1014 got 91% out of Linksys 54Mbps AP with the same bridge doing exactly the same link. Would have saved me time and money to go with the Engenius product first.
