Intel EXPI9300PT OEM card is a tad expensive ($30-35), but is the card for you if you are running WinXP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit. (Cheaper $10-15 cards have no driver support for 64-bit Windows). Intel's driver support for Intel EXPI9300PT OEM is top notch. (Available on WinXP 64, but you have to add). Built-in support in WinVista, but you get newer drivers from Intel.com. Linux, Windows 32-bit, even Netware drivers. Best driver support. Tiger gets the card to you quickly, and good price.

Buy 2 of these cards if your MoBo supports them. If you are running an SLI set-up with an NVidia chipset you can send with one, receive with the other... Problem is, most MobO'S that do have PCIE-1 put them within centimeters of the primary PCIE. Meaning that if you get a Graphics card with an onboard fan (2 expansion slots) two of these are impossible.Risers are available, but require case mod's.If network'ability is important, this IS the card to go with. BTW - MoBo's with Intel chipsets are loving this NIC - Bandwidth heaven!

Due to a bug in the hardware of this card it doesn't work with Linux. The card does works at 100mb/s speed but when put to gigabit speeds it gets TX Unit Hang messages. Further information can be found at http://e1000.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Issues . The drivers haven't be able to work around the issue yet, its been over a year. Just as a side note, I don't know the quality of card in windows as I don't run windows.

TigerDirect had this NIC to me within 3 days. I'm impressed! This NIC is really nice and I like that I can finally use one of the 1x PCI-e slots. Even though I downloaded the latest Vista driver before installing, Vista was able to set the card up with a valid driver and my network was up and running again. I still updated to the latest Vista driver which was absolutely painless. I've always liked Intel network adapters and am extremely pleased with this one!

Installed this Intel Pro 1000 T in a Dell Optiplex 320mini tower PCIe 16 slot as the PCI slots were occupied.This is a PCIe 1x card. It fits into the front of the 16slot and worked about 1/2 the time; it wouldn'treinitialize reliably on every boot...Intel replaced thefirst card but the problem persisted..hypothesize Dell'simplementation of the PCIe slot is imperfect.
