Dual WAN Router
Dual WAN Router Description
HotBrick HB-LB2 Dual WAN 4-Port Router and Firewall
The LB-2 is a firewall and a router with 2 WAN ports that combines high bandwidth sharing solutions, network security, load balance and redundancy. It's a perfect choice for small and medium businesses. It also has network management features that are essential for an efficient and safe security policy. All at a price that you can afford.
Integrated Firewall and Network Solution in One Device.
The LB-2 comes with packet inspection, NAT, intruder detection, URL filter, control and block access features and distinct user policies (5 different user groups). The LB-2 supports most of the popular high bandwidth connections, including cable, DSL, static and dynamic IP and PPPoE. It is a 4-port switch and DHCP server/client that provides safe internet connection sharing.
Economy, Speed and Stability
The LB-2 has 2 redundant WAN ports that offer a powerful load balance function. It allows you to trade a high cost internet connection for two high bandwidth connections (more economical). With both connections working at the same, the LB-2 will take advantage of the two connections speeds simultaneously with load balancing. It can offer connection failover so that every time one connection fails the LB-2 will use the other automatically. It is also an ideal product for those who need QoS (Quality of Service), being able to establish priority traffic for critical applications.

I would give it a good review if it wasn't for mislabeling of the product. HB-LB2 is NOT a firewall! It is a load balancer for dual ISP connection with security features focusing on how to prevent users INSIDE to get to Internet. HotBrick made an attempt to provide restrictions of access from the Internet but the implementation is so inept that the device is unusable for Dual WAN Router purpose. There is no VPN support, DMZ implementation is terrible, etc. Except for the bandwidth, a $70 Netgear firewalls are far better.

Yes, I agree, Dual WAN Router definately is NOT a firewall. There is some port filtering and that is it. Actually had to call hotbrick support because the device did not work correctly, was giving bad ARP resolutions and causing spoof address conflicts.Hotbrick had me flash a firmware from like 2 years ago to fix the problem. No VPN support and URL filter is limited to 20 entries.Only thing I would use this device for the load balancing.

All HotBrick Products come with the latest firmware before the unit leaves our warehouse. ARP Resolution bug and spoof address conflicts have been fix. URL Filter can support up to 50 entries using semi-colon.

i bought an LB-2 in Sept 2006. While it comes across as a feature-rich device, the performance of many of its features was rather poor. I had to do a firmware uprade immediately after buying it in order to get it to perform at a basic level. I tried the combination of DSL and Cable-modem dual WANs for a while, but found i needed to unplug the cable-modem WAN connection to get Vonage to work at all. SIP (VoIP) calls sounded so awful, and eventually data traffic slowed to a crawl that I threw my LB-2 in the garbage. I bought a more expensive device (Linksys RV082 dual-wan / firewall / router device), which instantly resolve all the problems I was having with the LB-2. I would discourage people from buying the LB-2 and instead spend a little more money on something like the RV082. It made a big difference to me.
