I'm using AOC 1619Sw1 16" Widescreen LCD Monitor now in place of a legacy 19'' SXGA (1280X1024) on my Windows XP multimedia machine in the living room (I don't want the monitor to be that auspicious): The AOC (the company used to be called Envision) has nearly the same native resolution as my 32'' 1366X768 LCD TV that's hooked also to my Sapphire Radeon 3850 AGP. (Windows allows 1360X768.)Sapphire indicated the VGA cord needed to be switched to choose which monitor should be dominant (the monitor may end up blank on boot otherwise). An adapter for DVI to VGA is necessary for DVI-only cards. Also, it's hard to get used to a 8ms lag vs. a 5ms lag I was gladly ignorant of in the past--of course, a high-end gamer rig would be short-changed and hamstrung by AOC 1619Sw1 16"....I do like the monitor otherwise; piano black plastic is fine. This is the least expensive new monitor extant, as far as I know. Despite a somewhat harsh rating, I still give my endorsement: For cheap builds, backup, special purposes, etc.

Great monitor for the price. Image is clear, good contrast, easy to read. Literally plug and play (once you restart your computer with this monitor attached, if you did not have a widescreen monitor previously). Keep in mind that with widescreen, 15.6'' will be substantially ''shorter'' than even a 14'' monitor in 4x3 configuration (standard squarish TV configuration). But the image quality, resolution, and ease of use (especially for having multiple applications open) will be much higher.
